The Weapon

This was recently discovered as we were looking for the gravesite of George Grinnell in the spring of 2012. One report had George listed as being buried in Fort Burford but when we went there the park officials said that he was not buried there but a local book owner named Chuck Wilder may have some knowledge of it. When we caught up to him he said he knew the burial site and he led us to the old Williston cemetary and next to the oldest graves there was several unmarked gravesites that old records indicate the burial of George Grinnell. The photo below is a picture of that site and the actual leather neck chain that held the watch was the item used by Josephine (notice the slip knot). Chuck said that his great grandfather was one of the jurors referenced in the article, a one George Marelius who coincidently was buried next to George Grinnell with headstone pictured in the foreground.
